Will Byers has powers

After four long seasons of getting the “goosies” tingling behind his neck, Will Byers finally unlocked what’s been lingering inside him – Vecna’s powers. Episode 4 confirmed a long-held fan theory that Will isn’t just connected to the hive mind, but, he can even channel and manipulate it. The viral clip show Demogorgons cornering Mike, Robin and Lucas across Hawkins, prompting Will to reach into Vecna’s mental circuitry and unleash a sort of telekinetic force powerful enough to kill all three creatures, in the same way that Vecna kills his victims. A nosebleed later, there is no doubt that Will is sort of a conduit to the Upside Down and very much in control of its powers.

Kali returns in the Upside Down

The season’s most shocking character return is that of Kali, who is entrapped in the Upside Down. While on a hunt for Vecna, Hopper and Eleven stumble upon Kali, a.k.a. Eight, restrained in a government facility. However, those wanting to know all about her greater purpose in this show, will have to come back in Vol. 2 or Vol. 3.

Max and Holly trapped inside Henry Creel’s mindscape

Max is alive, but remains physically comatose. However, her consciousness is very much awake and stuck inside Henry Creel’s mindscape. This season sees her finding Holly who turns up there after being taken as one of Vecna’s young victims. Seeking shelter in a cave that even Henry cannot access, the two girls begin plotting their escape.

Karen Wheeler’s time to shine

Volume 1 promised blood, gore and a high body count, but who would have thought that one would even be a Demogorgon victim. In the clip, a Demogorgon attacks the Wheeler home, leaving Ted in a coma and Karen wounded after the couple desperately try to protect Holly. However, Karen steps up to defend her girl and goes toe-to-toe with the monsters.

Jonathan’s proposal sets stage for Steve’s impending doom

The Hawkins-era love triangle refuses to die – for now. Despite still being together, Jonathan and Nancy are visibly strained, while Steve is hopeful. However, after fans saw Steve catching a glimpse of the ring, many are now convinced that the most heart-breaking death will come in the next parts when Steve sacrifices himself to save this strained love story. Sharing a still from the trailer that showed the group hugging and visibly shattered, a fan predicted, “Now this is making so much sense that Steve is dying!! Anybody else thinks this??”See how fans reacted on Twitter: Volume 2 releases on Christmas and the epic finale, Volume 3 on New Year’s Eve.
