Relentless bullying: Emmanuel Macron sues Candace Owens for claiming French First Lady was born a man
Macrons sued Candace Owens for claiming for years that Brigitte Macron is a man.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron have sued American podcaster Candace Owens for repeatedly claiming that Brigitte was born as a male biologically. In their suit, filed in Delaware state court, the Macrons allege that Owens has “used this false statement to promote her independent platform, gain notoriety, and make money,” including launching an eight-part podcast series called “Becoming Brigitte,” in which she pushes various conspiracy theories about the Macrons and their relationship.In the 219-page filing, Macron said Owens, a conservative commentator, started spouting the fake theories and the French First Lady’s gender identity in 2024, claiming that she was born biologically male and then turned into a woman by stealing another person’s identity. In their suit, filed in Delaware state court, the Macrons allege that Owens has “used this false statement to promote her independent platform, gain notoriety, and make money,” including launching an eight-part podcast series called “Becoming Brigitte,” in which she pushes various conspiracy theories about the Macrons and their relationship.Macrons alleged that Owens’ commentary has resulted in “relentless bullying on a worldwide scale” and demand a jury trial in the state of Delaware, where Owens’ businesses are based.

Conspiracy theories over Brigitte Macron’s gender

Candace did not start the theories but two women in France — Amandine Roy, 53 and Natacha Rey, 49, in 2021 claimed in a viral YouTube video that Brigitte Macron never existed and the person who is now the French First Lady was born under the name Jean-Michel Trogneux. This is the name of her brother. Those two women were convicted of defaming the French first lady but recently they were cleared of charges.Candace being one of the most popular YouTubers facilitated the conspiracy theory to reach many. And she doubled down on her claim and produced several videos on Brigitte Macron. The Macrons complained that she was the first person to bring these claims to the US media.

When Trump asked Candace to stop speaking about Brigitte’s gender

Candace once claimed that President Donald Trump called her and asked her to stop talking about Brgitte’s gender. Trump told her that he met Brigitte and she is indeed a woman. But she is old and the conspiracy theories were really impacting her. Candace apparently told the president that she did not feel great about the request, as she wanted the world to know the truth of how amazing Brigitte’s doctors were, who performed the surgeries on her. “You know, respectfully, Mr President, it’s not my fault that he (Emmanuel Macron) married someone with a penis,” Candace said she told the president.

Who is Brigitte Macron?

The First Lady of France Brigitte Macron was a literature teacher at the Lycée La Providence, a Jesuit high school in Amiens, where she met Emmanuel Macron, then a student in her drama class. Despite their 24-year age difference, they developed a close bond. Macron later moved to Paris for his final years of school, but they remained in touch and eventually became a couple after he turned 18.They married in 2007. Brigitte Macron has three children from her first marriage to banker André-Louis Auzière, whom she divorced in 2006.
