Those waiting for director Farhan Akhtar‘s ‘Don 3’, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, might just have to wait a tad longer, it seems. According to the latest reports, the film that has been in the making for quite some time and seen multiple delays, has reportedly hit another hurdle during production. Latest reports indicate that the film, which marks the third instalment in the iconic action-thriller franchise, has been postponed again. Originally scheduled to begin filming in August 2023, ‘Don 3’ was rescheduled to begin work in January 2025. However, according to a report by Box Office Worldwide, filming was then pushed to mid-2025, tentatively around May or June, with director Farhan choosing to prioritise his acting commitments in the film ‘120 Bahadur’. With this, the production timeline has reportedly been revised once again.
Production Update
As per the report, as shooting for ‘120 Bahadur’ took several months, the new schedule was set for mid-2025. The director and actor reportedly planned to begin work on the film after the release of his film. However, “things took a turn when Vikrant Massey exited the project.”
Massey’s Exit
Massey was reportedly cast as the main antagonist opposite Ranveer. However, his exit from the film last month sparked all kinds of rumours about the role and the next actor being eyed to play the formidable villain. According to the report, “There is speculation within industry circles that the team has already informed Ranveer Singh about the possibility of shelving the project entirely.”
Kriti Sanon ‘s Rumoured Casting
The last time rumours of the film being shelved began doing the rounds, various news portals soon crushed the allegations. There was also buzz about Kriti Sanon joining the cast and replacing former lead actress Kiara Advani. However, no official confirmation was made.
Farhan Akhtar’s Upcoming Films
‘Don 3’ is not the only Farhan Akhtar directorial facing delays. His long-awaited road-trip drama ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt, which was announced before the pandemic, is still waiting to go on floors. Alia responded to the rumours around the project, citing scheduling conflicts as the reason for the delay.
