Veteran comedian and actor Rajpal Yadav is back in the spotlight. Following his release from Tihar Jail on interim bail regarding a cheque bounce case, the actor has expressed profound gratitude for the “overwhelming” support he received from fans and the Bollywood fraternity.
Rajpal Yadav opens up on courting global support
After depositing Rs 1.5 crore and securing temporary relief for his niece’s wedding, Yadav returned to his native village in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking about the wave of messages, he told UP Tak, “I thank everyone who poured in their support on social media… When I got out of jail, my wife told me how many people have reached out personally. I haven’t even checked my phone properly yet.”
Yadav noted that his journey in Mumbai, which began in 1997, has earned him a global family of fans. “The audience across the world and all ages smile whenever they see me. I’ve lived over 500 lives through all the roles I’ve done,” he added.
High praise for wife Radha and Salman Khan
In his first detailed interaction since the legal hurdle, Yadav was quick to credit those who anchored him. He specifically highlighted his ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ co-star Salman Khan and other industry colleagues for their unwavering stance. However, his most emotional tribute was reserved for his wife, Radha, “It’s my good fortune that my wife has taught me how to conduct myself in life… After my mother, she’s fulfilled my life’s dream by raising my kids so well.”
Rajpal Yadav addresses the Nawazuddin Siddiqui connection
The actor also touched upon his early days of struggle, specifically addressing Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s past comments about Rajpal being a pillar of support. In a display of humility, Yadav deflected the praise saying, “He didn’t eat at my place. That was his home, his food… He gave me the credit, that’s his nobility. But none of that was mine. It was only his.”
Legal status and upcoming press conference
Yadav has promised a full disclosure soon, stating, “I’ll give the context of this case with a proper legal team at a press conference. Please give me some time to present my side of the story.”While Rajpal Yadav is currently out on bail to attend his niece’s wedding, the legal battle is far from over. The Delhi High Court has set the conditions of surrendering his passport and the actor cannot leave the country. Next hearing is scheduled for March 18, 2026.
