Steps to complete joining formalities at OPJR

For candidates allotted seats through MCC, the process includes completion of joining formalities at OPJR by the trainee, uploading of Annexure-A (Joining Report) by the hospital, submission of the self-appraisal form by the trainee, and verification of the self-appraisal by the hospital. For in-service quota seats allotted by state governments, Railways, PSUs or ESIC, the hospital must first submit allotment details at OPJR. This is followed by joining formalities by the trainee, uploading of the joining report, submission of self-appraisal and verification by the hospital.NBEMS stated that the self-appraisal form will be used to determine eligibility for registration as a trainee. Hospitals are responsible for verifying original documents before approving the self-appraisal. Any false or fabricated information may invite action under the accreditation agreement.

Verification of category certificates and provisional registration

Candidates who have taken admission under SC, ST, OBC or EWS categories must present original and valid caste/category certificates as per MCC guidelines. Hospitals must verify these certificates before allowing the candidate to join. After successful submission of the joining report and verification of self-appraisal, NBEMS will issue a Letter of Provisional Registration. However, the board clarified that this registration is purely provisional. It does not create any right to appear in the Final Exit Examination or guarantee award of the NBEMS diploma or degree. The registration remains subject to verification of documents.

Important dates and start of training

The OPJR portal will go live from March 9, 2026. The last date for trainees to complete formalities is April 9, 2026. Hospitals must complete verification by April 30, 2026.Candidates must join training within the reporting window of their counselling round. Hospitals cannot grant extension without prior approval from NBEMS.For in-service candidates, training will begin only after they are formally relieved from their parent organisation. Any training undertaken before relieving will be treated as null and void.NBEMS has advised trainees to carefully read the detailed OPJR guidelines and eligibility criteria mentioned in the information bulletin before submitting the self-appraisal form. Any discrepancy may lead to cancellation of candidature.
