Kangana Ranaut reveals she was denied saree by designer Masaba Gupta to wear at Ram Janmbhoomi as she reacts to AR Rahman's 'communal' remark: 'I cried in my car, makes me sick'

Kangana Ranaut who is known for always being candid and vocal on social media has once again created a stir with some of her recent, shocking revelations. Kangana’s reaction has come after AR Rahman’s comments on his recent interview where he hinted that Bollywood has become communal which has led him to get lesser work in the industry in the last eight years. While he said that he has directly never faced it, he has heard about it from people. Rahman had said, “Maybe I never got to know about this. Maybe it was concealed, but I didn’t feel any of this. Maybe in the past eight years, because a power shift has happened and people who are not creative have the power now. It might be a communal thing also but it is not in my face. It comes to me as Chinese whispers that they booked you, but the music company went ahead and hired their 5 composers. I say good, I have more time to chill with my family. I am not in search for work. I don’t want to go in search for work. I want work to come to me; my sincerity to earn work. Whatever I deserve, I get.”

Reacting to the composer’s comments, Kangana called him the most prejudiced man as he refused to even meet her for her directorial ‘Emergency’. Kangana also revealed an incident where designer Masaba Gupta denied her a saree to wear for Ram Janmbhoomi and she cried in her car. She took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “I desperately wanted to narrate my directorial Emergency to you. Forget narration, you even refused to meet me. I was told you don’t want to be part of a propaganda film. Ironically, Emergency was called a masterpiece by all critics. Even opposition party leaders sent me fan leaders appreciating the film for its balanced and compassionate approach but you are blinded by your hate. I feel sorry for you #emergency.”Further Kangana said, “Forget films, the big designers who begged me to launch their jewellery and clothes in free fund ka campaigns because they claimed to be my best friends later refused to send my stylist clothes. They stopped talking to me or posting about me.” She added further, “One instance I will never forget is when I was wearing Masaba Gupta saree for Ram Janmbhoomi, and she told the stylist that I can’t go to Ram Janmbhoomi in her saree. I had already left from Lucknow for Ayodhya and it was not possible to change. I felt so humiliated and degraded that I quietly cried in my car. Later like other designers she told the stylist not to mention her or her brand’s name. Today AR Rahman ji shedding crocodile tears what about their own hate and prejudices?”

The ‘Queen’ actress said that at that point, she was such close friends with Masaba that she even danced at her wedding. She shared a picture where she is seen dancing with director Vikas Bahl and said, “I have never performed at my own sister’s wedding but 2016 was also the year when I performed at @masabagupta wedding.”

Kangana has further elaborated on it as she responded to a journalist on X (formerly Twitter). She said, “Designers get very excited whenever their brands get seen on celebrities, have you seen Masaba or her brand handles use these images ? These images were all over the Internet. Can you explain why won’t she use these images or why won’t the stylist tag her? Those days Tejas was about to release so I wanted to go for Ramjanm Bhumi darshan, I requested the same stylist who was styling me for Tejas events (they are hired by the production houses ) to help me with the darshan trip as well. She added further, “I don’t care many stylists and designers have banned me from their handles as well but this particular incidence hurt me the most, because Masaba sent the clothes to the stylist for my promotions but when she was told it’s for Ram Janmbhoomi she told the stylist not to use her clothes, stylist is a very kind and genuine woman she was so embarrassed that she discreetly told me not to tag Masaba or her brand and mentioned that she has already paid for the sari from her own pocket so not to feel bad about it but by the time I got to know about all this it was too late, I was ready and was on my way to Ram Janmbhoomi but it was too much to process. The hate the bitterness the prejudice, ewwww how ugly !! Still makes me sick to my stomach !!” Meanwhile, during the same interview, Rahman also called ‘Chhaava’ a divisive film but said that he was honoured to score for a film based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
