The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has opened the objection window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 provisional answer key. Candidates who are not satisfied with the answers can raise objections through the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal.The objection window is open until February 28, 2026. Candidates must log in using their GATE enrolment ID and password to submit challenges.
GATE 2026 answer key challenge fee
To challenge a question, candidates have to pay Rs 500 per question. The fee is non-refundable.
GATE 2026 exam dates and shifts
The GATE 2026 examination was conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in two shifts:
- Forenoon shift: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
- Afternoon shift: 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm
The exam was held for a total of 30 papers.
Who can and cannot raise objections
- Eligible candidates: Regular candidates can challenge the provisional answer key by paying the required fee.
- Provisional candidates: They are not allowed to raise objections. However, they can view their responses and download the response sheet, question paper, and provisional answer key from the
GOAPS portal .
GATE 2026 scorecard download dates
Candidates will be able to download the GATE 2026 scorecard:
- Free download: From March 27 to May 31, 2026
- Paid download: After May 31 till December 31, 2026, by paying Rs 500
Why is the GATE score important?
The GATE score is used for:
- Admission to Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes
- Recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
- Research fellowships in organisations such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) laboratories

Candidates can follow the steps below to challenge the GATE 2026 provisional answer key:
- Visit the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in
- Click on the GOAPS portal link
- Log in using your enrolment ID, password, and security captcha
- View the provisional answer key and question paper
- Check the questions carefully in the Master Question Paper
- Select the question you want to challenge
- Upload proper justification or supporting documents
- Pay the objection fee and submit the challenge
