The singer recently recalled an incident where Gigi Hadid, his ex-girlfriend, told him off for giving their five-year-old daughter, Khai, too much money as “tooth fairy.” Zayn shared that it was his daughter’s first tooth, and he left 500 dollars under her pillow. The singer also said that it means “everything” to him that he can go above and beyond for his daughter.

During the February 11 episode of the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, Zayn Malik shared the incident and recalled Gigi, his ex-girlfriend, giving him “shit” for it. “I think I gave her a bit too much money from the Tooth Fairy,” he said, revealing he put 500 dollars under Khai’s pillow. He lightheartedly added, “It’s her first tooth! Her mom gave me s–t for it, but at the end of the day, I work my ass off, and I should be able to give my kid what I want to give her.” To further celebrate this milestone, the One Direction alum confirmed he’s “going to frame” the tooth.As for the gift he’ll give Khai for her second tooth? “She gets 5 dollars. The Tooth Fairy’s gone broke now, so I’m not giving you anything else,” Zayn joked.“But she’s my first kid. People in general look at it in a certain type of way. But (growing up), I was lucky if I got anything for my teeth. I’ve worked really hard for everything that I’ve earned, so I don’t feel like I should have to answer to those things,” he added.The ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ singer noted it means “everything” to him that he can go above and beyond for his daughter, as he dealt with financial hardships in his childhood. “I’m raising her in an environment that isn’t the same as everybody’s,” he explained. “Her dad is a pop star. Her mom is a model, and certain things that she does in life might not always reflect what other people’s understanding of reality is.”

Later in the podcast episode, Zayn admitted his feelings for Gigi Hadid, whom he dated on and off for nearly six years until 2021, and said he never entered the serious stage of true love. “Just to have this on the record, I will always love G because she is the reason my child is on this Earth,” he clarified. “I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don’t know if I was in love with her. Otherwise, I would have been a better version of myself.”While his views on love may have changed, Zayn’s commitment to showing up for his daughter remains unwavering.
