In a move aimed at strengthening career guidance and promoting psychosocial wellbeing in schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday unveiled two major initiatives, the Career Guidance Dashboard and the Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model, for the academic session 2025–26.These flagship programs were introduced during an orientation-cum-interaction session attended by educators, school heads, and mental health professionals. According to PTI, CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh said, “Both initiatives are designed to benefit schools and students and will continue to evolve through active input from stakeholders.”
Inside the new CBSE career guidance dashboard
CBSE’s Career Guidance Dashboard offers a comprehensive interface tailored for students, teachers, and school leaders. The dashboard includes features such as:
- Curated career information aligned with national and global opportunities
- Personalised exploration tools for identifying student interests
- Easy access to guidance resources and planning tools
According to PTI inputs, expert teams provided a detailed walkthrough of the platform during the launch session, highlighting its user interface, key features, and facilities available for all school stakeholders.
Counseling hub and spoke model for holistic wellbeing
The CBSE Counseling Hub and Spoke Model aims to establish a structured support system at the school level to address students’ emotional and mental health needs alongside academic and career development. A focused session explained the implementation architecture, school-level responsibilities, and monitoring mechanisms, as reported by PTI.
Ways to further strengthen the initiatives
To make CBSE’s career guidance and counseling ecosystem more robust and future-ready, the following complementary elements could be integrated into the existing framework:
- Interactive Career Tools: Incorporating AI-based assessments, virtual internships, and live webinars with industry professionals to help students explore diverse career paths.
- Personalised Counseling: Leveraging data from the Career Guidance Dashboard to provide tailored sessions aligned with each student’s interests, strengths, and challenges.
- Skill-Building Workshops: Organising regular sessions on digital literacy, creativity, problem-solving, communication, and other 21st-century skills.
- Parental and Teacher Training: Equipping parents and teachers with the tools and resources needed to support students’ career planning and emotional wellbeing effectively.
- Alumni Mentorship Networks: Facilitating structured engagement between current students and alumni to provide real-world insights and guidance on academic and career choices.
- Expanded Mental Health Services: Strengthening psychosocial support through peer groups, awareness initiatives, and access to professional counselors.
- AI and Technology Integration: Using predictive analytics, personalised recommendations, and smart dashboards to track progress and suggest learning paths.
- Continuous Feedback Loops: Creating formal channels for regular feedback from students, teachers, and counselors to refine programs based on evolving needs.
