‘Bomb on board’: IndiGo’s Delhi–Bagdogra flight makes emergency landing in Lucknow; toilet-paper message triggers alert

NEW DELHI: A Delhi–Bagdogra IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Lucknow on Sunday after a bomb threat was reported. Security agencies are currently carrying out a thorough search of the aircraft in Lucknow. ACP Rajneesh Verma said a message claiming there was a bomb on board was found written on a tissue paper inside the aircraft’s toilet, reported ANI. The flight, IndiGo 6E‑6650, was carrying 238 passengers, including 222 adults and 8 infants, along with two pilots and five crew members.The aircraft was en route from Delhi to Bagdogra when Air Traffic Control received the threat at around 8:46 am. It landed safely at Lucknow airport at approximately 9:17 am.On reaching Lucknow airport, the aircraft was immediately surrounded by security personnel in the isolation bay. The Bomb Disposal Squad and CISF teams began a detailed investigation. All passengers were safely evacuated and screened.“A security threat was noticed onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6650 operating from Delhi to Bagdogra on 18 January 2026 due to which the aircraft was diverted to Lucknow. Following the established protocol, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and are fully cooperating with them in carrying out the necessary security checks,” IndiGo spokesperson’s statement read.“We are making all efforts to minimise inconvenience to our customers including offering them refreshments and sharing regular updates. As always, safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft are our topmost priorities,” the statement further read.
