Bobby Deol is making waves with his upcoming collaboration alongside Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay in the highly anticipated political action drama Jana Nayagan. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about his experience working with Vijay, the challenges of shooting with such a massive star, and his journey in South Indian cinema, including his past projects with other regional icons like Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suriya.In conversation with Faridoon Shahryar, Bobby revealed that Jana Nayagan is set to release during Pongal 2026 and is likely to be Thalapathy Vijay’s final film before he embarks on his political career.
Filming challenges
The actor described Vijay as a massive star and shared that most of Jana Nayagan had to be filmed in studios to prevent large crowds from gathering during outdoor shoots, as the actor’s presence tends to draw overwhelming public attention.
Bobby’s past collaborations with South Indian stars
He also spoke about his earlier experiences in South Indian cinema, recalling his collaborations with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suriya. He noted that Balakrishna, popularly known as the “star of the masses,” was a wonderful person to work with and highlighted how such titles are a common tradition in the South film industry.
Kanguva experience
He went on to discuss his role in Kanguva alongside Suriya, acknowledging that the film fell short of expectations. Despite its underperformance, he expressed his continued desire to work with Suriya, praising him as a talented actor while attributing the film’s shortcomings to issues with the script.Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is said to star Vijay as a former police officer caught in a high-stakes political battle. Along with Vijay and Bobby Deol, the film features Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, and Mamitha Baiju in key roles.
