The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam, has released the Assam Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment 2025 notification, opening applications for 147 vacancies across multiple police and allied services. The recruitment drive, notified on December 12, 2025, aims to fill posts in the Assam Police, Assam Police Radio Organisation (APRO), Fire and Emergency Services, and the Prison Department. Online registrations will begin on December 16, 2025, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until January 16, 2026. According to the official notification, the recruitment covers 147 total vacancies spread across different cadres. These include Sub Inspector (Unarmed Branch) and Sub Inspector (Armed Branch) under Assam Police, technical posts such as Sub Inspector (Communication) in APRO, Station Officer and Squad Commander in Fire and Emergency Services, and Assistant Jailor posts under the Prison Department. Each post carries distinct eligibility conditions, age limits, and physical standards, making it essential for candidates to carefully review post-wise requirements before applying.

Eligibility criteria and educational qualifications

Educational qualifications vary by post. Candidates applying for SI (Unarmed and Armed Branch) must hold a graduate degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, or an equivalent discipline from a recognised university. For SI (Communication) posts, a B.Sc in Electronics, IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required, along with relevant technical knowledge. Station Officer and Squad Commander posts require a B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For Assistant Jailor, a general graduate qualification is prescribed.The age limit, calculated as on January 1, 2026, also differs by role. Most SI posts require candidates to be between 20 and 26 years, while certain technical and fire service posts have a lower upper age limit. Assistant Jailor posts allow a broader age range, extending up to 40 years, with relaxations applicable as per state government norms.

Application schedule and registration process

The online application window will remain open from December 16, 2025, to January 16, 2026. Candidates must apply through the official SLPRB recruitment portal. The application process involves online registration, submission of personal and educational details, uploading required documents, and payment of the applicable examination fee within the stipulated deadline. No offline applications will be accepted.

Selection process: Written test, PST, PET and viva voce

The selection process comprises multiple stages. Candidates will first appear for a written examination, followed by the Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The physical stages assess height, chest (for male candidates), endurance, and physical fitness through events such as running and long jump. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for a viva voce or psychometric assessment, depending on the post.The written examination is expected to test general knowledge, reasoning, aptitude, comprehension, and knowledge of Assam and India, with provisions for negative marking.

Pay scale and service benefits

Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Band-II, with a salary range of Rs 14,000 to Rs 70,000 per month, along with grade pay and allowances as per Assam government rules.
