WPL 2026 Opening Ceremony Live Updates: Welcome to The Times of India’s live coverage of the Women’s Premier League 2026 opening ceremony and season opener from the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The fourth edition of the WPL begins with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the 2024 title winners, in the first match of the tournament. Before the cricket action starts at 7:30 PM IST, fans at the venue will witness a pre-match opening ceremony scheduled to begin around 6:30 PM IST.

This season opens in Navi Mumbai, where all five franchises — Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz — will play their initial matches. The tournament will then move to Vadodara, which will also host the knockout games. Mumbai Indians enter the new season as the most successful team in WPL history with two titles, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won the tournament once. Delhi Capitals have finished runners-up in each of the previous three editions.

The opening ceremony will feature live performances by singer Honey Singh and actor Jacqueline Fernandez, with Miss Universe 2021 and actor Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu also set to appear. The event is part of the BCCI’s plan to mark the start of the fourth season and highlight the growth of the women’s game.
