During a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Mohit recalled the early days of casting for ‘Aashiqui 2’. He explained that a nationwide talent hunt had initially been conducted to discover fresh faces. However, the plan did not unfold as expected.“Then suddenly, one of my assistants called Aditya Roy Kapur. I think Aditya didn’t even know who I was. He had no idea. I think Ranbir (Kapoor) told him, ‘Go meet him, he’s a good director.’ Aditya showed up in shorts, chappals with socks, and a shirt. And while I was talking to him, he was spinning around in a revolving chair,” Mohit recalled.Mohit’s team was offended by Aditya’s attitudeThe director admitted that his team had found Aditya’s attitude unusual at the time and were offended by his behaviour. However, Mohit was impressed and could envision him in his frames.“I was thinking—this guy has come here on a bike. If this same guy had arrived in a Range Rover, he would be my character, Rahul Jaykar. So I believe the best casting happens when the camera isn’t rolling,” he added.About ‘Saiyaara’‘Saiyaara’, which hit theatres on July 18, collected Rs 21 crore at the box office on its first day of release.
