5 oiling mistakes that are stopping your hair growth

Here’s the reality: no matter how much you oil, if your diet is poor, hair won’t grow properly. Many Indians rely solely on external hair care while ignoring what really matters, nutrition. Lack of protein, iron, vitamins (especially B12 and biotin), and water can stunt growth. Stress and poor sleep also affect hair follicles.

The fix: Think of oiling as a supplement, not a miracle cure. Include protein-rich foods like lentils, eggs, paneer, and fish. Eat leafy greens, nuts, and fruits. Drink at least 2–3 liters of water daily. Don’t forget sleep and stress management – yoga or meditation can actually help hair growth.

Avoid over-washing

Many people wash their hair daily, thinking oiling requires frequent cleansing. Over-washing strips natural oils and counteracts the benefits of your oiling routine.

The fix: Stick to 2–3 washes per week. Use a mild, sulfate-free shampoo, and follow up with a conditioner if needed. This keeps the scalp healthy and the hair nourished.
