Brian Cox is set to join the second Season of ‘Dexter Resurrection’ as Dom Framt, aka The New York Ripper. The character was originally introduced in Season 1, though he was not seen onscreen. This will not be Cox’s first time playing a serial killer. He previously played the iconic character Hannibal Lecter in the 1986 film ‘Manhunter.’

As per a press release by Paramount+, The New York Ripper is described as “a serial killer who terrorized the city years ago. Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live into his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree.”In the Season 1 finale, Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, found the identity of The New York Ripper on a folder reading “Don Frampt, New York Ripper.”

Cox is an Emmy, Olivier, and Golden Globe award–winning actor, best known most recently for his role as Logan Roy on ‘Succession.’ The role earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2020. The Scottish actor also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his appearance as Hermann Goering in ‘Nuremberg.’

As for the plot details of the second season of the Dexter spinoff have yet to be revealed. ‘Dexter: Resurrection,’ which premiered on Paramount+ in September 2025, followed the 2021 limited series ‘Dexter: New Blood.’ Michael C.Hall, who plays Dexter, confirmed the show had been renewed for a second season in October. Season 1 featured stars like Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, and Emilia Suárez.
