Danish Iqbal, who essayed the role of Bade Saab, aka Dawood Ibrahim, in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, recently shared how he prepared to play the character. The actor revealed he used to be one who would reach first on the sets to get ready for his role. He also shared about not eating anything or making movements because of the getup for the movie.

In an interview with India Today, Danish Iqbal shared that it took him 10-12 hours to get ready for the role of Bade Saab. The actor revealed that he used to reach the sets first to start with his makeup for the character. He went on to share that he could not eat anything or make movements because of his getup.

Danish Iqbal quipped, “It was almost like I was observing Ramadan months earlier.” The actor expressed that he took it as meditation and enjoyed every process of the same.He revealed that he had to make changes in his speech and voice as well, since he plays the role of a dying man in the movie. He said, “It was a challenge, but a lifetime opportunity. I am thankful that people are enjoying it and sending me so much love.”

Danish Iqbal discusses separating personal views from character

In the same interview, Danish Iqbal talked about separating politics and personal beliefs while playing a character like Dawood Ibrahim. He admitted that he had some concerns.He said, “How do you separate them from each other? This was my doubt. And I realized, when I am playing someone, that’s my reality, that’s my truth. And a character may have his own shade, but as an actor, I cannot judge him.” He further shared, “I have to accept his truth to play him well, and I think people liked that. He believes in whatever he’s doing, and that’s what makes him more threatening.”When he was asked if having clarity helps in portraying a character and signing a movie like ‘Dhurandhar’, Danish said, “Absolutely, main abhineta hoon neta nahi (I’m an actor, not a politician).”The actor added that he is expected to play a character and make it more interesting, and it is his job. He said, “Honestly, I don’t believe in politicizing art. We are not the ones to decide the political agenda. Our job is to entertain audiences through the many characters that we get to play.”
