Ram Gopal Varma defends his deleted tweet about Kiara Advani: 'Never keep my comments about beautiful women..'

Ram Gopal Varma is known for voicing his unfiltered opinions on social media. Over the years, he has been candid about his admiration for “beautiful women” in the film industry, but his blunt tone has frequently drawn criticism and backlash with some calling his remarks “indecent.” One such controversy erupted when the teaser of ‘War 2’ dropped, featuring Kiara Advani in a swimsuit. Varma reacted publicly to her appearance, triggering backlash online and eventually deleting his post.In a recent chat Varma addressed the uproar, claiming he barely remembers what he had written. “I really don’t remember what exactly I wrote or what I said in the tweet because I put so many tweets, and it was such a long time back,” he said during a chat with Vickey Lalwani. Defending his stance, Varma argued that such visuals in a teaser are designed to spark strong reactions. “My whole point is if you’re putting an image like that in terms of a trailer, a beautiful girl in a bikini, which is supposed to provoke something.”Describing his comment as “a backhanded compliment,” he explained, “I thought it was a backhanded compliment in the context of how I felt about it. Even from Rangeela days, I never keep my comments about beautiful women under the thing, I was always open about it even when I talked about Sridevi.” He further asserted, “I will do everything the way I am. I’m not going to change myself as a person in the way. I express myself, my thoughts, and all that, but my cinema will be different.”When asked why he chose to delete the tweet after facing criticism, Varma said, “I can’t recall why I did that, I rarely do that.”‘War 2’ starred Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR along with Kiara. The film was directed by Ayan Mukerji.
