TN TET 2026: The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Government of Tamil Nadu, has released the official notification for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2026 for working teachers. The test will be conducted for eligible in-service teachers across the state.The notification invites applications from teachers working in government, government-aided, and recognised private schools in Tamil Nadu. Applications must be submitted online only through the official website.
Who can apply?
The exam is meant only for working teachers who were appointed on or before September 1, 2025, as:
- Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT)
- BT Assistants
- BRTEs and other equivalent posts
- Special Education Teachers and similar cadres
Teachers working on time-scale, consolidated, or part-time pay in various departments and schools are eligible to apply. Qualified serving teachers seeking promotion are also required to apply for this test.

Candidates who secure the qualifying marks will receive the TNTET eligibility certificate.Application fee is ₹600 for all candidates and ₹300 for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar (SCA), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Differently Abled candidates.Separate applications and fees must be submitted for Paper I and Paper II. Fees must be paid online only through net banking, debit card, or credit card.
How to apply for TN TET 2026
Follow these steps to register:
- Visit the official TRB website.
- Apply through online mode only. No offline applications will be accepted.
- Fill in all details carefully, as changes will not be allowed later.
- Upload required documents including photograph, signature, service certificate, and educational certificates.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit the form before April 10, 2026.
Candidates must upload all certificates at the time of application. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
Hall ticket and exam centres
Hall tickets will be released online on the TRB website. They will not be sent by post. Examination centres will be allotted across districts in Tamil Nadu, and candidates must appear at their own expense. TRB has clarified that passing TNTET is only an eligibility qualification and cannot be claimed as a right to employment.
