He took a loan of Rs 5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his debut project, ‘Ata Pata Laapata’, in 2010. The movie was a musical satire and featured Rajpal Yadav in the lead role. The story follows a man who turns to the law after discovering that his house has mysteriously vanished from its construction site—only to find himself treated as the prime suspect instead.Apart from Rajpal Yadav, the movie also featured Asrani, Om Puri, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Joshi, Govind Namdev, Dara Singh, Vikram Gokhale, Vijay Raaz, and Satyadev Dubey. The film was produced by Rajpal Yadav’s wife, Radha Yadav, under the banner named Shree Naurang Godavari Entertainment Ltd. The production house’s name refers to the actor’s parents.The movie was released on November 2, 2012.However, the film failed miserably at the box office.

According to the NewsX report, before surrendering to the Tihar jail, Rajpal Yadav said, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own (Sir, what should I do? I don’t have any money. I don’t see any other way… Sir, we are all alone here. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own).”The Delhi HC is set to hear the bail plea today.
