While MG Motor India is gearing up to launch the new MG Majestor on February 12, MG’s global arm has already introduced the SUV in Kuwait under the Rakan 4×4 name. The MG Majestor is a heavily refreshed iteration of the Gloster, and will be positioned as a more premium offering above it. Barring the powertrain, the Rakan 4×4 remains largely identical to the MG Majestor. The Kuwait-spec Rakan is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 250hp and 500Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It also comes equipped with a 4×4 drive system and multiple differential locks with multiple terrain modes. In contrast, the India-spec MG Majestor is expected to use the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine from the MG Gloster, delivering 215hp and 480nm of torque. This engine is likely to be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 4×4 and differential locks, along with dedicated switches to toggle between 2WD, 4WD, and a low-range 4WD mode.

In terms of design, the Rakan closely resembles the MG Gloster, with only minor visual differences. These include a new alloy wheel design, while at the rear, it features the MG badge on the left, a 4×4 emblem on the right, and ‘Rakan’ branding positioned above the connected tail-lamps.
Moving inside, Rakan’s cabin has been comprehensively revamped and now features a dual-tone brown-and-white interior theme. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, powered front seats with a massage function, multi-zone climate control, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, leatherette upholstery, rear AC vents and USB charging ports. With the second and third rows folded, the SUV offers a boot capacity of up to 2,400 litres. The India-bound MG Majestor is expected to feature a similar interior layout.

Recently, MG teased the upcoming Majestor. MG says that with its longest, widest, and tallest dimensions, the MG MAJESTOR will redefine the regular D segment and will mark its presence in the new D+ Segment. As per the teaser, the new Majestor will feature a large Matrix-style grille, flanked by Falcon-inspired daytime running lights and modern split headlamps. The side profile highlights its premium stance with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is marked by new connected LED taillights and a more sophisticated bumper design, giving the SUV a refreshed, modern appearance.
