Odisha’s Higher Education Department has come under attack online after a content creator accused it of using artificial intelligence tools to prepare official social media posts that showed a distorted version of the state emblem. Content creator Amit Kilhor, in a social media post, where mocked the department and said it appeared to be using tools like ChatGPT without proper checks. He claimed this had led to visible errors in official visuals posted online. The state emblem of Odisha used in the department’s social media updates was not correctly represented. The emblem normally features the Lion Capital of Ashoka at the top, a warrior on a horse inspired by the Konark Sun Temple, and Odia text meaning “Truth alone triumphs” and “Government of Odisha”.However, in the AI-generated versions shared on the official handle of the Odisha Higher Education Department, these elements appeared distorted. The Lion Capital looked unclear and deformed, while the warrior and horse figure appeared misshaped. The text in some posts was also seen as incorrect and unreadable. In a sarcastic remark, Kilhor suggested that the department needed to improve its use of AI tools. He said, “Hello Odisha, hire me to teach you proper ChatGPT prompting,” implying that poor handling of AI was leading to embarrassing results on official platforms.Another user wrote, “Congrats to the Higher Education Department, GoO for embarrassment in national media.” Another commented, “Odisha wants to know.” A third reaction said, “No knowledge of AI, or no budget for a subscription? Odisha’s higher education is in paralysis.”
